Tradition

My story begins far away, when towards the end of the 1800s my great grandfather decided to emigrate from the Basque Country, a land of dreamers and idealists, to distant shores (Buenos Aires, Argentina).
In Buenos Aires he and his family put down roots and founded a line of jewelers of family tradition. My grandfather, Domingo Garagorri, and his brothers embraced the art that had been handed down to them.

I am a dreamer too, and since I was a child I have cultivated the desire to create. I am drawn to everything that is beautiful, and my idea of beauty rests on the refinement of detail and the harmony of shapes, which make an object more attractive to another person's eye.

I was fortunate to be born and raised among artists, in a family that encouraged my wish to be part of a world of people devoted to making beautiful, unique, timeless objects.

At the age of twenty-one, with the same goal and desire I had as a child, I moved to New York City, where several opportunities took shape, both in study and in work. My first experience was as a model maker in a high jewelry company, and it was my starting point in New York. There I had the chance to meet a person I consider a great master, Alberto Codorniu, who greatly enriched my professional background.

I then went on working as a jeweler with important names in international jewelry, up to my last position at the Leenet Company, a firm specialised in invisible setting. That experience allowed me to deepen my knowledge of how a jewel is made. Later I enrolled at the Parsons School of Design in New York to learn new jewelry design techniques.

I kept working with several New York firms for quite some time, but the frenzy of that great city was never a friend of mine, so I decided to move again in search of new stimulation. The city of Verona captured me with its beauty and the warmth of its people, which I found irresistible and which led me, in 2004, to put down roots in the city of love and open my atelier. Over all these years in Italy I have taken part in numerous collaborations, including with important brands for which I have become one of their main references. In particular I work with the world of art, both with publishing houses and with artists, whose works I interpret and build, turning them into wearable jewels. Together with my team we have also developed a small division for the technology, medical and aerospace fields. I have devoted myself to building and creating jewels for others, of every kind, made to measure or as lines for sale, and for some time now we have been working on my own line of pieces, with the aim that they be unique and unrepeatable.
